Description of Goods

We are operating a business in New Zealand offering new and demonstrator Ford and Mazda passenger and light commercial vehicles. We also offer used passenger and light commercial vehicles of any brand.

Deposit information

Note that at the time of checkout, Capital City Motors will only charge an initial deposit. If payment is successful, the vehicle's status in the current inventory will change to 'under offer'. Capital City Motors will then make contact with the customer to discuss the remaining amount to be paid and delivery/shipping. By clicking Buy Now, the customer agrees to purchase the vehicle at the internet advertised price.

Delivery times and methods of goods

  1. Subject to your compliance with Capital City Motors Limited Sales terms and our acceptance of your purchase, we will sell and supply the products to you as shown on your purchase confirmation.

  2. Vehicles may not be available for immediate delivery. We will endeavour to deliver your vehicle to the address you nominate within ten (10) working days of the date you place your order, except if the order is for a New passenger or light commercial vehicle. Orders for New passenger or light commercial vehicles are generally not held in stock and will required to be ordered from the manufacturer. You acknowledge and agree that your order for any new passenger or light commercial vehicle may take up to ten (10) weeks to be delivered to you from the date you place your order. This timeframe is the average manufacturing lead time required by suppliers. We will contact you on or around the time we receive your order to notify you of the indicative delivery date.

  3. When you complete your order, Capital City Motors will make contact with the customer. Here the customer can advise whether they wish to collect the vehicle from a Capital City Motors store or to have the vehicle delivered to an address specified by customer.

  4. Delivery times may be greater than 10 (ten) working days for regional or remote areas.

  5. The delivery address must be an address in New Zealand and cannot be a PO Box.

  6. We will do our best to deliver your vehicle within the stated timeframes; however, we do not warrant that these timeframes will always be met, as many factors may affect these timeframes.

  7. You must advise at the time of your order via the website, or later when you discuss delivery with us, of any difficulties that may be involved in the delivery (such as a remote rural location, restricted road access, narrow streets that vehicle transport trucks will find difficult to navigate).

  8. If you wish to change your delivery method, delivery date or delivery address you must let Capital City Motors know at least 48 hours prior to the dispatch of your vehicle.

  9. You will be required to be available in person to accept delivery of your vehicle and provide identification.

  10. We cannot accept responsibility for delivery failures or delays by our third party delivery contractors.

Cancellations, returns and/or refunds policy

  1. After receiving your vehicle and you decide it is not adequate for your needs it may qualify to be returned and any payments refunded. 

  2. Returned vehicles must be in the original state they were delivered in and must not done have travelled in excess of 100 kilometres from the distance recorded on the odometer at the time of delivery. The vehicle must contain all extras and accessories that may have been included at the time of delivery.

  3. Vehicles will not be accepted for return after 2 weeks (14 days) after the date of delivery.

  4. Returned vehicles will incur pickup and transportation fees which will be at the expense of the person returning the vehicle. These will be calculated and communicated between Capital City Motors and the customer prior to the vehicle being collected.

  5. Vehicles cannot be returned in exchange for another vehicle. Only a refund of the deposit and/or any other amount already paid will be offered. If the vehicle has been purchased under finance, please contact our Business Manager to discuss this and any payments that may have been made on the vehicle.

  6. All returns and refunds will be at the discretion of Capital City Motors and will be handled on a case by case basis.

  7. Under the Consumers Guarantees Act 1993 ('CGA'), you have guaranteed legal rights when purchasing goods. These 'consumer guarantees' include the following:

  • A guarantee that the goods are of acceptable quality, i.e. they are:

  • Fit for all the purposes for which goods of that type are commonly supplied;

  • Safe;

  • Durable, and

  • Acceptable in appearance and finish;

  • A guarantee that the goods are fit for any particular purpose made known by you, or for which we represent that they are or will be fit;

  • A guarantee that the goods correspond with any description with which the goods are supplied; and

  • A guarantee that the goods correspond with any sample or demonstration model where the goods are supplied by reference to such sample or model.

If the goods we supply do not meet a consumer guarantee, we will meet our obligations under the CGA to provide a remedy.

The CGA does not apply where goods have been used in a manner, or to an extent which is inconsistent with the manner or extent of use that a reasonable consumer would expect to obtain from the goods; and the goods would have been compiled with the guarantee of acceptable quality if they have not been used in the manner or to that extent.


Minor failure

If the vehicle/s we supply do not comply with a consumer guarantee, but can be remedied within a reasonable time, we will endeavour to repair the vehicle/s at one of our Capital City Motors service centres. Should this be necessary, transportation fees and any other costs will be communicated between Capital City Motors and the customer at the time.


Major failure

A 'major failure' is where the failure in the vehicle cannot be repaired within a reasonable time, or where failure constitutes a 'failure of substantial character' as defined by section 21 of the Consumers Guarantees Act. If a failure amounts to a major failure, you are entitled to return the goods and obtain a refund. Should this be necessary, transportation fees and any other costs will be communicated between Capital City Motors and the customer at the time.


Delivery charges

If Capital City Motors considers the goods that have been returned in breach of a consumer guarantee, any shipping costs will be at the expense of Capital City Motors. If on examination of the goods returned to Capital City Motors, the goods are found to not be in breach of any consumer guarantees, Capital City Motors may charge you a fee for examining the vehicle/s and any cost to return the vehicle/s to you.

Please note that the vehicle/s must be returned within a reasonable time period and you may be asked to demonstrate that the problem with the goods was not your fault.



Refunds will be issued at the discretion of Capital City Motors. We will attempt to have refunds processed within 10 working days.


Goods damaged in transit

If a vehicle arrives damaged, please contact Capital City Motors within 24 hours of delivery. We will then communicate between you and the third party transport company to determine the cause behind the damage and who is responsible for any repairs and transportation fees.

This returns policy is not intended to exclude or limit any rights which you may have as a consumer under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, and may not necessarily describe all the rights you have.

Any export conditions or restrictions

Please note vehicle delivery can only occur in New Zealand and is restricted to the North Island and South Island only. It may be possible that some rural areas cannot be accessed by our third party transport company and alternative arrangements will need to be made. This will be communicated to you following the order being placed. If there are any difficulties associated with accessing your specified address, please ensure we are made aware of these at the time the order is placed.

Details of any charges payable in addition to the basic price of the goods

In addition to the price of the vehicle specified on the website, On Road Costs (ORC) may be required to be paid. This will be communicated by us following the order. Any options or accessories you may wish to apply are not included in the vehicle's retail price and will need to be paid on top of the retail price. Any additional insurance or warranty package will need to be paid on top of the retail price. Transportation and delivery fees will need to be paid on top of the retail price and these differ depending on your New Zealand location; these will be communicated to you following your order. All transactions are billed in New Zealand dollars.

Consumer data privacy policy

Through registering your email through any email registration form on our website, you are authorising Capital City Motors to communicate with you via email. You will be added to the applicable mailing list and we will communicate with you as appropriate, either via newsletter email or personal. You will have the option of being removed from our mailing list at any time, by clicking 'unsubscribe' at the bottom of any bulk e-mail communication, or by contacting us at any time through this website or emailing us directly at . We take your privacy very seriously and will not redistribute any of your contact details or personal information to any other third party other than our transportation company for the purpose of delivering your vehicle.

Details of security capabilities and policy for transmission of payment card data

All online payments must be made via a valid debit or credit card via the secure ANZ eGate payment service.


All transactions are billed in New Zealand dollars (NZD) and this will be displayed in the checkout/final payment screen.
